Similar problems to this have come up in previous cases.

1. One is a gene which causes breast cancer, which had been patented. The women who have been born with this gene had to fight for the breast cancer treatment and their bodily autonomy.

2 Danish pigs have a gene that causes them to have less body fat. This gene was also patented and the company who owns the patent wanted a royalty for each piglet born in Denmark. This was fought out in the courts by the Danish farmers, I can't remember the outcome but I think the royalty was denied and it limited where Danish bacon could be sold.

Moderna, won't take anyone's kids but they may try to prevent them giving blood for tests and transfusions.

And changing the innocent other species of the environment too. There's a good collection of studies coming out showing that spike persists e.g. in wastewater and impacts genes of other species. As if our farming practices hadn't been doing enough to our fellow earth inhabitants.
